KRJ Philosophy

Planning Philosophy

David V. Kromm has developed a process of planning that leads to exceptional design. It is a synthesis of information from the client and knowledge of the architect into design concepts. The last several decades have seen dramatic changes in communities and the next decades will definately see more. Proper planning can help build greater flexibility in order to adapt to these changes.

All members of the client team can participate in the planning and design phase of the process. Feedback starts with a critique of plans in relation to planning information. Goals, facts, concepts, and lists can be re-evaluated at this point to yield a better outcome. The KRJ planning process leads to a consensus. At this point, team members have developed goals and evaluated facts together. Many concepts will have come from individual team members. The team has criticized plans together and seen the resultant modifications.

Design Philosophy

We design each building for a specific and unique community. KRJ's own design success comes from our ability to obtain an in-depth understanding of the needs of both the community and project sponsor. We are dedicated to understanding the architectural heritage of the community.

The common thread among our projects is the requirement for a facility to be custom tailored for the benefit of the communities of the Mississippi Valley.

Our design philosophy is bringing beauty and harmony into the conflicting situations of today through an in-depth understanding of:

  • The heritage of communities and the needs of the future.
  • The needs of the educator and the needs of the students.
  • The needs of care givers and the needs of patients.
  • The needs of technology and the needs of humans.
